John Stamos in Rehab

John Stamos shot to stardom playing the character Uncle Jesse on Full House from 1987 to 1995. But just as he prepared to reprise his role on the spinoff, Fuller House, he checked in to rehab! Now, a source close to Stamos is speaking out about why the actor chose to enter treatment now, and what it means for the future of the highly anticipated project.

Stamos was arrested for DUI back in June, just weeks before he was set to start filming the Netflix series with his former castmates. He entered rehab in early July.

But where did that leave the show? Cast members tweeted pictures of their table read last week and Stamos was nowhere to be seen, but the source said he will join them shortly.

“He made sure to choose a treatment center that allows him to keep his commitment to Fuller House, as well as his other huge projects,” the insider added.

Aside from Fuller House, Stamos is also starring in Fox’s new fall show Grandfathered, which is about a bachelor who learns he’s not only a father, but a grandfather. “John went to rehab because this project is everything to him,” the source said.

According to the friend, the hunky 51-year-old single actor “has had a drinking issue for years, but it escalated recently. Thank God he was able to catch it before it was too late.”

“Coincidentally, his decision to get help may also work in his favor in terms of resolving his DUI,” the source claimed.

“He has a lot of love around him right now from both his real family and on-set family, as well as his friends and other actors in recovery.”
